The theme for this summer’s training institute is Passion, Courage, and Endurance: Transforming Community Corrections. The adult and juvenile justice systems are experiencing significant and powerful change driven by justice reform and innovative practices focused on promoting public safety in a more fair, just, and effective manner. America’s ever-changing landscape poses challenges and opportunities to incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion in justice system program development, culturally competent and trauma-informed service delivery, and organizational change. As jurisdictions tackle policy reform, organizational development, and strengthening community partnerships, the overarching goal is to address critical social justice issues with a strong sense of passion, courage, and endurance.
Studies show that employee engagement, professional development, and health and wellness strategies reduce turnover and retain effective employees that result in safer communities and positive outcomes for justice-involved individuals. Ultimately, the transformation of community corrections is dependent upon the field evolving toward a positive future for our profession and the communities we serve.
The traffic safety landscape is rapidly evolving, presenting both challenges and opportunities to reach zero traffic deaths. General Sessions will consider how states and their partners can harness the potential of technological advancements and engage innovative strategies to reduce crash injuries and fatalities. Breakout workshops will examine hot topics in safety, including law enforcement engagement, alcohol- and drug-impaired driving, bicyclist and pedestrian safety, and autonomous vehicles. Attendees will come away with concrete ideas to implement in their own work.

Last year the conference planners focused on making the exhibit area the central point of the activities; this was accomplished by extending the length of time vendors were at the conference and time spent with conference attendees. The participants are the decision-makers and have the authorization to purchase items/services for the juvenile detention facilities in California, which encompasses special purpose juvenile halls, juvenile halls, and camps.
This provides ample opportunity to discuss your company and your company’s products with conference participants. This year CAPIA is continuing with a tier level sponsorships format. We will also have a list of sponsors displayed in the conference meeting room along with placing the sponsor’s logos on the conference program. Our goal is to promote interest in the vendors that are in attendance.
